Making iPlayer global

BBC Global iPlayer launched in 2011 it was a subscription app service that offered the best BBC programs on demand around the globe. It launched to a great success, available in 16 countries, reaching one million downloads in the first year and a further 20 million only two years later.

I worked with the team develop and define the application and product experience language, creating a clear and consistent UX and UI language for the product. The aim was to ensure it aligned with the existing UK iPlayer and BBC online presence while creating differentiation for its market.

The process involved defining brand guidelines, creating cross platform application UI, working with development, editorial and marketing teams to implement the best possible experience.

The BBC phased out the service in 2015.
